I'm sure many of us are aware of the effects the sun has on our skin? Likewise excessive sun has an effect on our hair too... it causes drying, split ends, brittleness and it has the ability to penetrate the hair shaft and that way causing damage to it's structure.

This is a short, sweet and to the point blog on an easy homemade recipe, that can save you a little on the pocket and yet still be an effective SPF hair spritz...

  • take an empty spray bottle
  • pour in 1 cup of water
  • add 1 tbsp of sunscreen (SPF 30 and above)
  • shake it up and leave it to dissolve overnight
  • some sunscreens leave a white powder-like residue, if that it the case, filter it & you're good to go

  • spritz on wet, damp or dry hair ~ can be rubbed onto scalp to protect it as well.

Some extra tips:
  • if you use a leave-in conditioner daily you can add some sunscreen to that
  • other ways to protect your hair from UV exposure: wearing a hat or a scarf, protective hairstyles
  • apply and comb through conditioner before swimming
  • find styling products with SPF
