If you think you have seen and heard it all... think again!!

I came across "finger nails rubbing" while looking for some inspiration for my next blog post, and i must say I was taken aback at first, it actually seemed like a joke... then it kinda became interesting...

So this "technique" apparently originated in India and was used in ancient times as a cure for alopecia, balding, thinning hair etc..  According to the research I have been doing, it is also known as a type of yoga called "Balayam" meaning hair exercise.

How to:
You rub finger nails of one hand briskly against the finger nails of the other hand. This is done on average of 3 times a day for between 5 - 10 minutes.

How this technique works:
In reflexology it is believed that the nerves in the nail-bed are directly connected to the scalp and the rubbing action stimulates blood flow and oxygen to the scalp. Therefore frequent rubbing stimulate the scalp thus rejuvenating hair follicles and enhancing hair growth ~ hair becomes thicker, more dense and stronger.

Precautions:

  • avoid if u have damaged nails to begin with
  • never rub thumb nails, as this is said to stimulate facial hair growth
  • avoid during pregnancy as it may cause uterus to contract
  • avoid if you suffer from hypertension as it increases blood pressure

How far would you go for a full head of healthy hair? I personally don't know anyone who has ever done this... I would be curious to know if anyone would ever try this and please, some before and after pics are a must!
