Meet the BTL Emsella which utilizes High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic technology to stimulate and restore deep pelvic floor muscles. Basically, it re-educates the pelvic floor muscles which, when they become loose, are responsible for incontinence and vaginal laxity. It's FDA cleared and said that a single session gives thousands of pelvic floor muscle contractions, equivalent to 11200 kegels.

In case you're not certain what incontinence is: it's when the bladder leaks urine during physical activity or exertion e.g. jumping, laughing, coughing, exercise etc.. Things like natural childbirth, aging and menopause can sometimes lead to incontinence. This is a treatment suitable for all ages. Treatment time is about 30 minutes, you are fully dressed, and the average number of sessions is 6 done twice a week. There is no downtime or recovery period and one can go back to their usual activities immediately.

I had the opportunity to "test drive" this treatment, curiosity go the best of me. After detailed positioning instruction, you sit on the chair and the machine does the rest. It's not painful at all, in fact it's a bit difficult to describe the exact feeling, but, to me it felt like a tingling sort of sensation. I can't say what the results would be, unfortunately, as I didn't particularly have an issue to deal with. For me, it was great to see a non-invasive, non-surgical option to something not many people speak about, yet so commonly found.

The machine launched in South Africa just this month and so is not available at any clinics yet. But, as always, I will be back to update should I come across it where you can book in for yourself. Any thoughts come to mind after reading this? Please share below...
