So last Friday evening, I decided to have a spray tan done... yes! I said spray tan!! I was attending a wedding on the Saturday and had plans of wearing a short dress, which I would not normally do, due to the fact that I am rather self-conscious about my “cafe latte” colored legs being paired up with the “cappuccino” colored rest of my body (depends who’s making it okay #tongueout#).... ie. extra long, ultra light legs (probably from wearing pants 8 times out of 10) with darker shade of arms & face, which get far more sun exposure.

So, the spray tan was done on my legs only. I got a professional to do it. An all natural brand was used, in a medium shade. Took less than 5 minutes to do and two ‘coats’ were applied.

I must tell you though, I was a bit sceptical and concerned that the shade would not be right and would possibly land up much darker than the rest of my body, or just looking plan weird!

Instructions: were to exfoliate the night before; not apply and cream/lotions/oils to the skin on the day the treatment would be performed; wear loose dark clothing to avoid streaking and to leave the tan on for at least 8 hours before washing off.

I can honestly say, I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Next morning, after my shower, the tan had ‘developed’ and become slightly darker. It gave my skin a nice bronze coloured tone. Descriptive words fail me at this point, but it gave my skin this “healthy” appearance. Not only did my legs match the rest of my body, but it seemed to also ‘mask’ the appearance of my flaws eg. I have childhood scars that are quite dark, and a few blue dots here and there, I bruise easily and it doesn’t look so great.. even the appearance of the cellulite and stretch marks seemed slightly better. They were still there but not as obvious on first glance.

Would I do it again? Hell yeah!! In fact, I plan to make it a habit. Every function I have, I plan to hook up the legs with a little treat!

Would I recommend it to other ethnic skinned ladies, most definitely! For some extra pizzazz, if you have “this and that’s” that you know you are self conscious about and would like to mask, especially for summer when short and skirts are a must – this should definitely be one of those treatments to try... I don’t see why not, after all there is nothing to lose, it’s not a permanent effect and average fade time between 5 – 7 days.

Sorry.. no before and after pics, but i will definitely be posting an update with pics when I do the next one - it only dawned on me after it was done...
