Happy 2017 everyone! Hope you had a great holiday season.

I realized, just the other day, that I don't think I've ever told you about collagen induction therapy aka skin needling aka microneedling. It's a technique that uses very fine needles, either on a roller or in the form of a "pen".

What does it do?
The fine needles repeatedly puncture the skin, creating micro channels that allow whatever serum/product you apply thereafter to penetrate deeply into the skin. This action stimulates a wound healing response, which means more collagen & elastin production. A topical anesthetic is applied beforehand, so the treatment is quite comfortable to lie through.

Who is it good for?

  • skin with fine lines & wrinkles

  • scarring

  • general anti aging

  • stretch marks

  • hair loss

Is there down time?

There is minimal downtime depending on the depth of needling performed, and can last anywhere between 24-72 hours. Your skin is generally quite red during this time.

How many sessions are needed?

The average tends to be between 2-5 sessions, depending on the condition of the skin, once a month, and important to remember is everyone's response is different.

This is a minimally invasive treatment, so be sure to always go to a reputable establishment for your treatments as you don't want to risk damaging your skin.

The unexpected..

You are able to purchase a microneedling roller, with needles that will not penetrate the skin too deeply ie. to the point of blood, that you can use safely at home without the need for anesthetic and giving you a result you will be quite pleased with over time.

Have you had this treatment before? What were your results like? Please let me know in the comments below.
