Did you know that bath salts have more benefits that just “smelling nice”…

Adding bath salts to water is a practice that’s been around for many years and has proven to have a lengthy list of benefits. Here are just a few:

* Soothes aches and pains, the warm water combined with the magnesium helps to alleviate stiffness and inflammation

* Stress reliever, by triggering the release of serotonin (our “feel-good” hormone), it will help create a feeling of calm and relaxation

* Helps with detoxification and improves digestion, by assisting with eliminating harmful toxins

* Exfoliates the skin, use once a week, while in the bath on damp skin to gently scrub away dead skin cells, concentrate on those areas where you tend to get a bit of roughness

* Soften rough and callused feet, get rid of foot odour, soak in a foot bath/spa for about 10 minutes, give your feet a good scrub or file, then slather in your favourite butter, balm or foot cream

* The essential oils infused in the salts all come with their own set of “healing” properties, so have a quick read on the back of the container or try to remember the the most common ones and choose according to the benefits you’re after
